Arriving by train
The comfortable and safe way of travel
The trains of Deutsche Bahn are the environmentally-friendly way to get to the trade fair city of Leipzig. The main train station that connects to the ICE is located in the centre of the city, and is among the most modern and largest train stations in Europe.
Three levels and more than 140 stores, along with the food outlets of the shopping and service centre PROMENADEN, invite you to take a walk around the train station - from Monday to Sunday until 10:00 pm. Many stores are also open on Sundays.
The new City Tunnel is a quick way of reaching the "Leipzig Messe" train station with the S-Bahn (rapid transit railway). There are transfer options for all six lines of the Central German rapid transit system on each of the four stations of the City Tunnel for the S 1, S 2 or S 5 to the "Leipzig Messe" train station.
You can take the rapid transit trains S 1, S 2 or S 5 directly from the Marktplatz to reach the "Leipzig Messe" train station in approximately eight minutes. Rapid transit lines S 1, S 2 or S 5 or the regional train (RB) take you from the main Leipzig train station to the "Leipzig Messe" stop in approximately six minutes. The distance between the exhibition train station and the exhibition grounds is approximately 750 metres.
Tram line 16 of the Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe stops in front of the main train station, and will also take you to the exhibition grounds in around 18 minutes - direction "Messegelände" (final stop).
Information regarding the connections to Leipziger Messe can be obtained from the schedule information service of the Deutsche Bahn and the Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund and Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe.
